A team sport involves a group of people who compete against an opposing team to accomplish an ultimate goal. Team members work together in a supportive and trusting atmosphere to achieve their objectives, which usually includes scoring more points than the other team. Examples of team sports include football, basketball, baseball, hockey, volleyball and tennis. Some types of team sports may not involve teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar object in accordance with rules, but instead focus on cooperation and a shared effort, for example rowing, sailing, dragon boat racing and track and field.
Many high school students play team sports as part of their physical education, and it’s a great way to make friends and stay active. In fact, participating in a team sport can help you to reach your fitness goals and keep a healthy weight, and it can also motivate you to pursue other goals that are important to you.
