Automobiles are one of the main ways that people get from place to place. They are used in cities, small towns and rural areas where it’s too far to walk or where there’s no public transportation. Automobiles can be powered by gas, electricity or even air. They are built with four wheels and usually seat between one and six people. They are a great way to get around but they also cause automobile accidents and pollute the environment.
The automobile was invented in the late 19th century but it wasn’t until Henry Ford developed the assembly line that they became affordable to most Americans. When he did this it created new jobs and industries that weren’t there before. The demand for rubber tires, vulcanized oil and road construction rose drastically. It also allowed women to drive which was a huge step for women because they weren’t allowed to vote at the time.
Automobiles are complicated machines that have many systems that work together to power the car, control it and make it comfortable for the driver to use. The engine provides the energy to turn the wheels and it also produces the electricity for lights and other systems in the car. There are a lot of different types of automobiles but most have the same basic features. Some have a trunk (storage) in the back while others have a hatchback and no trunk. They may also have leather seats and a fancy radio.
